As you fight pirates in a territory, you gradually liberate the local islands, which unlocks new locations on each island, new items to buy, and new crew to hire. Just don't spend your gold too quickly.Complete MissionsAs you explore you may find someone who offers you a mission. Completing missions will unlock locations, unlock new ship designs, or reward you with gold. There’s always a primary mission that will move you closer to unraveling the plans of your enemies.Hire Your CrewOccasionally you will find someone willing to join your crew in exchange for gold or items. As your crew grows you can use more ships in combat or choose to use bigger ships, if you’ve discovered their designs.Collect ItemsThere’s hundreds of items to find scattered across the ocean! You can sell items for gold or hold on to them to hire potential crew. You might even be able to find a store that will offer you more gold for a certain type of item.Customize Your LookSome items allow you to change the look of your fleet, such as fleet color, flag designs, and flag emblems. You can then edit your flag and fleet colors at any island to make the perfect look for your fleet. Or, save your gold to buy ships.Grow Your FleetShips can be purchased once their designs are discovered. Once you own a ship you can start teaching it new actions by assigning a captain to the ship. Each captain teaches the ship a different action. Actions can gain levels and become unstoppable.Stop to FishYou can’t fight pirates all the time! Fishing and botany are both available to help you relax while gaining some valuable items to sell. Mythical fish and plants are out there to discover and are worth a lot of gold. Balloons did not display correctly in the new UI. This has been fixed. Certain clockwork ships were leaving their "ready" brackets behind after a battle. This has also been fixed. Gold, experience, and liberation now display what they are in a tool tip. The dialog hint now appears after 30 seconds instead of 12 seconds.This Hotfix is live for windows. Pirate Code 1.6.2 is now available and it is by far, the best Pirate Code yet! What's new this time? Ship upgrades. You're going to love 'em!Ship Upgrades. Most of my time on this update was spent reworking much of the underlying code for the world map. My main focus was improving performance and I feel like I succeeded. There's not much more I can do to make it faster. If you still experience problems, please feel free to reach out to me. I've also found that running the game in window mode and using a smaller window helps with performance. Hopefully that won't be needed by most of you. Here's the list:Tightened the ship turn radius on world map for easier controls. The ship will turn much faster, but an instant U turn is still not possible.Decreased cost of map locations for Haven Cove, Snake's Den and Hope island. The tutorial now forces you to purchase the first two of these to get you started.Increased the tutorial to cover the Map Shop, the Inventory, missions, bounties, and ship ring colors.Challenges are now hidden until the first mission is complete.The mouse can be used to advance the dialogFixed the display of cost information when selling a single item.Fixed a bug with the fishing contest on Haven that would allow ships to start on land.Added a "Helpful Hint" that will give advice to players in the first chapter to keep them from getting stuck. Pirate Code 1.5.2 - The UI Update!: Pirate Code has new Combat User Interface!. Happy Birthday Pirate Code!: Pirate Code was released one year ago! Since then, based on feedback from you, the players, major portions of the game have been improved. I didn't want to pass up this opportunity to give an update on the next release. It would have been nice to release the update today, but the real world doesn't always work out perfectly like that and I didn't want to give you a half-tested update. What I can do is tell you what's coming...Ship Upgrades!. Pirate Code 1.6.1 Released!: Today, a minor update for Pirate Code was released. It included several bug fixes. Here's the list: It seems the AI still occasionally resurfaces ships when another ship is already at a location. This causes the first ship to "ghost" so that you can't shoot it. This has been fixed. Using Torpedo Boost on the Twin Fin or Cargo Fin could cause them to freeze when they try to attack on the following turn. Also fixed. Fixed a bug where the enemy would start moving its ships again after the Defeat screen opens. Fixed the bug where the island menu fails to open again after a challenge. You can now safely complete challenges!The update is live on Windows. The Mac version will be available over the weekend.And there you have it! There's more planned for next month. Stay tuned!
